The MeldGrove Provisions
70% Arbequina, 25% Arbosana, 5% Koroneiki
A combination like none other - The Meld uses Arbequina, Arbosana, and Koroneiki olives (two Spaniards and a Greek!) from the hills of San Luis Obispo County to make this signature blend EVOO. The robust flavor profile has notes of pepper, hot spice, and earthy artichokes.
This blend is little more peppery and robust than the Arbequina due to the addition of the Arbosana and Koroneiki olives. For 2017, The Meld has a higher percentage of Arbosana than the 2016 version, which makes this EVOO is a wonderful substitute for “vegetable oil” when it comes to sautéing. Though not recommended for deep frying, EVOO is actually better than butter or other oils in the frying pan!
We love it to boost the flavor of roasted vegetables, grilled fish, or sprinkled on a grilled steak when ready to serve. Here we have used it in a traditional Italian polenta cake, served with vanilla gelato, pistachios and as an extra drizzle on top.
Harvested November 2017 and bottled to order.
